Apple ID purportedly to be rebranded ‘Apple Account’ with upcoming operating system updates

In his latest “Power On” newsletter, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says Apple ID is expected to be renamed “Apple Account” with the updates of Apple’s operating systems. 

The updated operating systems will almost certainly be previewed at this summer’s Worldwide Developer Conference and roll out in late summer or early fall. 

Gurman says Apple says there’s an “Apple Account” team within the company. With the full rebranding later this year, the term Apple ID is expected to be completely phased out, he adds.
