Apple hit with two more lawsuits

Another day, another lawsuit. No, make that two. As reported by AppleInsider, there’s a new pair of lawsuits against Apple claiming patent infringement on features related to the dual camera arrays in some iPhones, as well as smart device alerts.

Corephotonics, an Israeli maker of dual-lens camera technologies for smartphones, has filed a lawsuit against Apple, claiming the tech giant used key patented technology to create the dual camera array in the iPhone X. In November 2017, the company sued Apple, alleging that the iPhone 7 Plus and iPhone 8 Plus infringe upon four of its patents. The patents relate to dual-lens camera technologies appropriate for smartphones, including optical zoom and a mini telephoto lens assembly.

In the other case, a company called Alert Signal Intellectual Property is suing Apple for infringing on four patents related to the conditional receipt of alerts, text messages and other communications on smart devices. More specifically, the patents-in-suit describe methods of disabling alerts based on handset velocity (think Apple’s “Do Not Disturb” feature in iOS 11), notes AppleInsider.
