Apple has hired Rusian Meshenberg, one of Netflix’s top engineers, as part of a broader strategy to build out the technical team supporting Apple TV+ and its other subscription services, reports The Wall Street Journal.
The article says he helped build out Netflix’s platform and was involved in “key initiatives to create a speedier, more consistent service for viewers.” Meshenberg joined Apple’s Internet services organization this week.
The WSJ adds that, at Netflix, Meshenberg ran much of the infrastructure that guaranteed television shows and movies played reliably, even as the company expanded to more than 50 countries and streaming increased to more than one billion hours of programming weekly.
Meshenberg’s LinkedIn profile lists his job title as “engineering leader at Apple.” He was at Netflix for almost nine years, serving as vice president of Productivity Engineering” from November 2017 to November 2019.
