Apple Daily Report for Feb. 9, 2018

The AWT News Update is on hiatus while my compadre, Steve, deals with a death in the family. Prayers go out to the entire Sande family. In the place of the AWT News Update, I’ll offer a text-only (no podcast) summary of breaking stories with a tip o’ my hat to my former website, Apple Daily Report.

Apple has updated its HomePod support website with out-of-warranty service pricing for the speaker, which is arriving to customers in the United States, United Kingdom, and Australia starting today.

Apple has posted an HomePod User Guide. It covers what to do when you first unbox the HomePod as well as what kind of things to ask it, from music questions to smart assistant features like driving traffic, weather, and alarms.

A Tampa, Florida man’s AirPods reportedly “blew up” during a recent gym workout, prompting Apple to investigate the matter.

DirecTV Now has updated its Apple TV 4K deal today with a lower price point: if you prepay for just three months of the streaming TV service for a total of about $105, you get an 32GB Apple TV 4K free.
