Since Steve and I can’t cover everything, at the end of each week day, we’ll offer this wrap-up of news items you should check out.

Apple wants you to know that reviewers really, really love the iPhone Xr. So the company has posted a round-up of enthusiastic reviews on its Newsroom web page.

Giving the keynote speech at the 40th International Conference of Data Protection and Privacy Commissioners, CEO Tim Cook warned that data itself is being weaponized again people and societies — arguing that the trade in digital data has exploded into a “data industrial complex,” notes TechCrunch.

Google has fought back against a pair of proposed class suits alleging that the tech giant secretly kept tabs on smartphone users’ locations, telling a California federal court that iPhone and Android users agreed to tracking, reports Law360.

With iOS 12, Apple has prevented the Grayshift hacking company from breaking the passcodes of iPhones. Now the company can only do what’s called a “partial extraction,” according to Forbes.

Apple has started testing Group FaceTime for macOS Mojave again, per Digital Trends. The feature that allows up to 32 folks to chat on FaceTime at the same time was supposed to debut with the operating system update, but was yanked due to, I assume, further tweaking.
