Apple Daily Report: Apple apologizes for the FaceTime bug (and more news)

Since Steve and I can’t cover everything, at the end of each week day, we’ll offer this wrap-up of news items you should check out. 

Apple has apologized for the FaceTime bug . You can read the statement of the apology at MacRumors. The company says a fix is coming next week for the the Group Calling exploit that allows a FaceTime video caller to hear the audio from a recipient’s iPhone without the call even being picked up.

Bad Comcast: the company is sidestepping development of an Apple TV app for Xfinity TV customers in favor of its plans for Roku boxes and technology based on Sky’s Now TV service, according to BestAppleTV .

Facebook and Google have had their enterprise developer certificates restored by Apple following recent breaches in the accepted protocol for data gathering. 

John Detrixhe makes an interesting argument (https://www.macobserver.com/link/apple-debit-card/) that Apple should release its own debit card to prepare for the wave of contactless cards.

Well, this wont’ happen, but Britain’s Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ) is calling on Apple and other tech companies to secretly add law enforcement agents to Messages chats, FaceTime calls and other forms of encrypted chat on demand.

Apple is seeing improved iPhone sales in China following some recent price cuts on the iPhone Xr, Xs, Xs Max, and older models that were introduced earlier in January, reports Chinese site Feng
