Apple adds curated section of articles covering the coronavirus

Apple is offering Apple News readers in the U.S. dedicated coverage of the coronavirus outbreak by collecting stories and health guidelines in a curated section.

In other coronavirus news, reps from Apple, Google, Facebook, Microsoft, Amazon, and Twitte are expected to visit the White House today and meet with officials from government agencies including Health and Human Services, the National Institute of Health, and the U.S. Labor Department, reports Fox Business.

The companies are set to discuss coordination efforts and info sharing between their industry and the U.S. government involving the coronavirus, the article adds.

On a somewhat related note, Nikkei Asian Review says supplies of Apple’s iPad are running low in China as families snap up the tablets to help with e-learning at home in response to coronavirus-related school closures. The extra demand has come as suppliers across the country are struggling to meet production demands amid labour shortages that are also related to the virus.

As of Tuesday evening, there are 118,101 global cases of the coronavirus with about 808 in the U.S. On a global basis there have been  4,262 fatalities as tracked by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University.
