Earlier this year Apple acquired Vilynx (pronounced “VEE-links”), a startup specializing in advanced artificial intelligence and computer vision technology that may help the tech giant improve its own artificial intelligence (AI) across a number of apps and services, reports Bloomberg.
The deal was purportedly completed for about US$50 million. Vilynx apparently had 50 employees at the time of its acquisition. Its tech will likely be used by Apple on Siri and it’s in Photos app. And, as Bloomberg notes, Apple could also potentially apply it toward a recommendation engine for its TV and News apps to surface more relevant content to users.
